Julia Gorin in Seattle, November 14-20, 2023
Julia Gorin — the talented professional dancer, instructor, choreographer and performer — will be visiting Seattle November 14-20 to share with us her expertise and experience. Julia teaches Tango Salon, Tango Escenario/Stage and also Argentine Folklore.
Julia has been dancing Argentine Tango for over 20 years (since 2000), and in her career, she partnered with many outstanding dancers. For the period 2011 – 2022, she danced with Jonatan Baez, and since 2023 their paths have separated and she embarked on new endeavors.
In 2003 Julia founded the tango community in Cyprus and currently her former students are the international instructors of Argentine Tango in Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, and other countries.
Many students of Julia became semi-finalists and finalists in different national and international championships, including the most important ones. Julia is invited as a judge at many international Argentine Tango competitions.
Julia Gorin is a member of AMBCTA – the Asociación de Maestros Bailarines y Coreógrafos de Tango Argentino (Association of the Professional Teachers, Dancers and Choreographers of Argentine Tango).
She has created her own method of teaching (JG TANGO METHOD), which is unique and effective, based on body consciousness, a special approach to the musicality, and logic of movements.
Julia is the creator of the tango-theatre show “RELATOS DE INMIGRANTES” (“STORIES OF IMMIGRANTS”) https://linktr.ee/RelatosTangoShow
She was the organizer of the online festival “TANGO EXERCISE MARATHON” in 2020-2021.
Julia has been dancing tango since 2000 and has studied music (piano) and classical and modern ballet since she was six years old. Living in Buenos Aires, where she worked in such tango shows as the famous Café Tortoni, Añoranzas Tango, the legendary “Sabor a Tango”, her own show “Stories of Immigrants” among others. She performed at the most prestigious milongas (Salon Canning, Porteño y Bailarin, El Beso, Gricel, Sunderland, La Nacional, Confitería Ideal, La Baldosa, etc.) and also with different orchestras: A La Juan D’Arienzo, Color Tango, Los Reyes del Tango, Sans Sousi, Bajofondo, Sexteto Milonguero, Cachivache, Tango Bardo, Romantica Milonguera and many others. Jonatan and Julia have taught in such schools in Buenos Aires as “Asociación de Maestros Coreógrafos y bailarines de tango”, “La Floreada de Alejandra Mantiñan”, La Escuela “Obelisco Tango”, and “La Escuela Mundial de Tango”.
Julia toured with seminars, master classes, performances, festivals, and concerts all over the world. Her performing abilities are fascinating and diverse: she is equally inspiring, dancing elegant tango salon with a very close embrace, or flamboyant stage tango shows, or Argentine folklore. In performances with her former partner Jonatan they are distinguished by mastery, sensuality, and professionalism.
Julia’s unique method of teaching is the quintessence of her experience not only in tango but also in Argentine folklore, modern and contemporary ballet, jazz, drama theatre, research in the field of conscious movement, dance therapy, and her own developments.
