MORE ABOUT MONICA PAZ
Growing up in Buenos Aires and having a milonguero father, Monica Paz was born into tango. She began formal tango study in 1996 and went on to earn degrees in tango dance and history.

Over the years her teaching has evolved to focus exclusively on transmitting what she has acquired from decades of dancing with the milongueros, the masters of tango, at milongas in Argentina.

Monica has danced and taught professionally in Argentina, Europe, Brazil, the U.K. and the U.S. She says:

“I was and am very lucky. The experience I have had in all these years is not possible for the vast majority of the global tango community. You have to live in Buenos Aires, you have to dance with milongueros, you have to listen to them, and you have to understand what they say between the lines when they talk and they dance. Unfortunately, so many of these men and women have passed on. However, their legacy can still endure if we listen. This is the tango I pass on in my classes, because not only is it my passion, but it is my commitment that this understanding of tango not be lost. Hopefully this heritage can benefit and enrich tango generations to come!”
