Thanks to the support of many of you, we are bringing Alicia Pons back to the US for the Spring of 2026! It’s been since 2019 that she was last here in the US and at Two Moon Tango for our Encuentro. Those who have worked with her know that her teaching technique, personal warmth, and dedication to her students are unequaled.
As most of you know, Alicia has been one of the most beloved Milongueras in the Buenos Aires traditional Tango community for decades. She is a renowned master of Milonguero Style Tango, who has taught around the globe and lives and teaches in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Alicia has immersed herself in the traditional Milonguero Tango community for the last 35 years in Buenos Aires. She was able to know, and feel the dance of the best of the Milongueros, in the prime of their lives as dancers. This experience formed the foundation of her teaching style, and hers is a pedagogy that expands far beyond the physical steps and technique of the dance. Her teaching begins with how we are both in our bodies, and with ourselves: an approach that starts from the inside and leads us into an authentic engagement with the dance. Through her work, she aims to show us how to find our own “home” in our body, and our own feelings in the dance, and then to dance from this experience.
It takes more than two to Tango!
So many of us have studied with her during her North American tours in the past. So many of us wish to continue this journey with her! For many years now, Alicia has been unable to return to the United States to teach us, due, largely, to the high cost of obtaining a visa and traveling here.
The good news: The visa process is in the works and the tour is planned! We are almost there! Thanks to so many of you, we have already raised about $7,000 of the $8,000 we are aiming for! If we can raise the last $1,000, we will be able to cover the majority of Alicia’s immediate visa, legal and travel costs for her 2026 teaching tour. If you feel able to donate for the first time or donate again, please do so! We thank you in advance for making it possible for Alicia to return to North America and share her unparalleled knowledge and unique gifts with us!
By helping us bring Alicia to the US and Canada, you have the opportunity to learn from this undisputed master of Milonguero Style Tango, without having to travel internationally! Anything that you give will help us to make this dream a reality, even the cost of a fancy cup of coffee! Here is the Go Fund Me link: https://gofund.me/a8a6a20b
