Aldo Romero is a true maestro of traditional close-embrace Argentine tango. His dancing is an effortless blend of impeccable technique, elegant minimalism, deep partner connection, and exceptional musicality. Together with Marcela Pilatti, he is the 2026 Buenos Aires Tango World Champion in the Senior Category.
Aldo’s teaching is rooted in the traditions of the Buenos Aires milongas, with a particular focus on milonguero technique, connection, musicality, and the subtle nuances that give authentic Argentine tango its distinctive character.
Based in Buenos Aires, Aldo has been teaching and performing tango for more than 20 years. Throughout his career, he has studied with many of the genre’s renowned masters, including Gustavo Naveira, Giselle Anne, Mingo Pugliese and Esther Amelio, Natalia Games and Gabriel Angio, Carolina Bonaventura and Demián García, and Facundo Piñeiro and Vanesa Villalba.
Today, Aldo is the host of the De Caravana and El Milongón de la Tradicional milongas at the historic Salón Marabú in Buenos Aires. He performs in La Ventana Tango Show in San Telmo, where he dances alongside legendary tango dancer Alicia Monti. He is a member of the El Cruce Escuela de Adultos ballet and a featured artist with Sol y Luna in Denver, Colorado.
Aldo’s competitive achievements span more than two decades. Most recently, dancing with Marcela Pilatti, he became the Champion in the Senior Category at the 2026 Buenos Aires Tango World Championship. Prior to that he won the 2025 Campana Tango Championship and the 2026 Salta Championship. He was a finalist at the World Tango Championship in 2004, 2010, and 2011 with Ana Lia Carrizo, and again in 2024 with Cynthia Giannini. Earlier in his career, he won the 2011 Metropolitan Tango Championship in the Senior Category.
Through his dancing and teaching, Aldo brings students not simply steps, but the tradition, intimacy, musicality, and unmistakable feeling of tango as it is danced in the milongas of Buenos Aires.
