    THEY BRING TANGO BACK

Tango Scent is an evening of exquisite dance and music from Argentina

Eva Lucero & Patricio Touceda lived in Seattle for 5 years and became Seattle’s favorite Tango Dancers until they joined Cirque du Soleil in 2007. Now they bring back the Tango to Seattle with their second creation. Tango Scent.

Tango Scent reflects the endless search for a unique form of expression of the artists. Ever evolving yet faithful to the roots which made Tango a worldwide passion. The show includes 6 of the finest tango dancers in the world. Eva Lucero & Patricio Touceda, Mayte Valdes & Carlos Barrionuevo and Virginia Porrino & Cristian Cisneros perform an amazingly impressive array of dances. The Show is created and directed by Eva & Patricio. With more than 15 years of experience in the field, they performed with the best dance companies and were acclaimed by audiences of Europe, Asia and America. Their first production Tango Retro was a great success and the tickets were sold out during their last appearance.

The live music of the show will be performed by the young talented bandoneon player Emmanuel Trifilio and his partner guitarist Daniel Cortaza.

Tango Scent features an entire cast of artists from Buenos Aires, the cosmopolitan city capital of Argentina that was the birthplace for Tango. Today, Tango has traveled around the world and people can be seen dancing to its music in most cities of all five continents. Tango Scent is a rare opportunity for Seattle audiences to experience live Tango performance of this caliber. Definitely an opportunity not to be missed!

  • Holiday Party This Saturday!

    Administrator 5:50 pm on November 30, 2009 | 0 Permalink

It’s time to celebrate the season and community this Saturday at the Sixth Annual Seattle Tango Holiday Party, held this year at OmCulture, a great new venue on Lake Union. The holiday party is on Saturday, December 5th, and as usual features a free beginner lesson, a great spread of homemade appetizers and desserts, and a no-charge bar including wine and non-alcoholic beverages.

The venue is fantastic, with a huge, new dance floor, beautiful decorations, and views of the city across the lake.

More information about the event is here: http://www.susdesign.com/tango/

By purchasing tickets in advance on the web site you can save $5. Or, there may be a few volunteer spots remaining if you want to get in for free. Contact me.

I hope you can make it to the party, and please let me know if you have any questions. Please tell all of your friends, especially anyone from out of town who might like to join us that evening.

    Thanks!
    Christopher

  • Special Workshop with Susana Miller- November 6th-8th

    Administrator 6:28 pm on November 3, 2009 | 0 Permalink

    From Tony & Ilana:

    Dear Dancers,

Ilana and I are proud to present a special weekend of tango workshops featuring our dear master Susana Miller.

Attached below is Susana’s workshop schedule for the weekend of November 6th-8th.

Susana is a remarkable teacher, not only for her command of the dance, but because she deeply understands how people learn it. Susana began to study the ways in which the older milongueros danced in the mid 1980s. The older milongueros didn’t teach classes. The close embrace style of tango, which predominates in the central Buenos Aires where dance floors are crowded, was in jeopardy of being lost as those older dancers past away or stopped dancing because of age and/or poor health. With an eye toward teaching, Susana worked with them to understand better what they did and how they did it. [Continue reading...]

Club Sur is located at 2901 1st Avenue South , Sodo district one block east Starbucks headquarters going south.

See you all there. DJ John
