    Hello Tangueros Milongueros:

    What a wonderful Mother’s day we had at the milonga. Thanks to all of you who brought treats, friends, and your usual high energy to add to the ambiance.

    The news are awash with predictions about “the end of the world”, apparently scheduled for this Saturday. We have already put in a motion for continuance on the basis that we have not been consulted and it would greatly hinder the flow of the floor. Therefore, we are fully planning on holding yet another great milonga this Sunday. The end will simply have to wait and make way for tango. The nerve of some people…

    So for those of you who are in agreement with our petition, please signify by attending La Garua this Sunday at the usual time. See you there!!!!!!!! Griselda

    Hello Tangueros Milongueros:

    Time for another great milonga at La Garua. This year we have had a tremendous growth of new people joining the Seattle tango community. I want to thank all of you for making our visitors and new regulars feel welcome and accepted at La Garua, especially you gentleman that work at sharing your embrace and dance with many of the single ladies in attendance.

    A special thanks to Bill Peterson and Marjorie Bills for adding such wonderful culinary delights to the refreshment table.

    Hello tangueros milongueros:

    Well, I am not getting used to the change in weather from 90 degrees in Tucuman Argentina to this, the end of the Seattle winter, possibly. The daffodils are about to blossom in Griselda’s garden so I am hoping for an early spring. I am looking forward to sharing some great music with you this Sunday, by then we should have 44 degrees and a bit of rain.

    This is your weekly reminder for Monday night’s milonga at China Harbor along with news on upcoming events. This week, after a long absence, Bill Peterson returns to DJ at CH.

    Our Monday class with Carlos and Mayte is from 8-9 pm. The class focuses on useful sequences for the social dance floor with an emphasis on improving your technique. If you haven’t attended any of their classes this is a great opportunity to learn from 2 maestros. The class is $15 which includes entrance to the milonga.

  • "La Garua Tango-Tea" This Sunday

    Dear milongueros and friends of La Garua

    Once again we expect the pleasure of seeing you at our milonga this Sunday. John Isley, our official leader and DJ has landed in Seattle an hour ago! This marks the return to the original management team, the provider of our complimentary wine, and the man responsible for keeping us moving non stop during the milonga.

    Another piece of good news is that our favorite teacher, milonguero master Alicia Pons has just been granted the US visa. She will be starting her teaching tour of eight cities soon, and will be teaching at La Garua on the fourth weekend in March. Mark your calendars, her classes are not to be missed! Hopefully, she will help Seattle become the NW center for the close embrace (milonguero style) of tango dancing, that we so admire.

    For those who may be interested, Alberto Dassieu, a well-kown milonguero from Buenos Aires will be teaching workshops in Vancouver BC on 1/27 to 1/30. He is a wonderful specialist in the music of Pugliese and the Vals rhythm. This is worth a detour to Canada!
